A synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide fragment corresponding to a sequence in Body Protection Compound (BPC), a protein produced in the stomach lining. First characterized by Predrag Sikirić's group at the University of Zagreb in the early 1990s.
The parent protein is one your stomach makes. This is a laboratory-synthesized fragment of that sequence — not extracted from tissue, and not the intact parent.
Sold as a cure for everything from tendons to gut inflammation. That is not what the literature says. The literature says: heavily studied, in rats, by mostly one group, for thirty years.
Straight talk
Straight talk: the human data is essentially absent. Nearly the entire published record is preclinical — rodent models, in vitro assays. It is a heavily-studied research chemical, not a validated therapeutic. Anyone selling it as one is selling ahead of the evidence.
